Sunnyvale California Internet company Yahoo Inc. is looking to establish a data center in Western New York. Governor Paterson’s office confirms that they are talking with Yahoo executives and trying to convince them to do business in WNY.
The center would house computer systems and other equipment. State officials say it would result in few jobs, but the luring the big-name company could help with other economic development efforts. Governor Paterson wants the New York Power Authority to come up with a low-cost power plan for Yahoo that would help lure them to the Buffalo area.
