Title: Tour of Homes
Location: Linwood Preservation District
Link out: Click here
Description: Eleven architecturally significant properties will be open to visitors during the fourth Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Linwood Preservation District and Friends Assn., April 25 from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Seven houses are on the tour, each of them unique in their own way. Interiors have handcrafted woodwork, beautiful leaded and stained glass windows, restored wooden floors, elaborate staircases and other features that present a feel of quiet luxury. Most have undergone extensive restoration, with some continuing as renovation works in progress.

Other properties not generally open to the public for tours include the Delaware Avenue Baptist Church with its gorgeous interior; the Olmsted Center for Sight and the adjacent Statler Center on Main Street, examples of urban revitalization and re-use; the Bristol Home, built in the 1840s and now an assisted living facility; and Forest Lawn Cemetery’s imposing Main Street Gate and gatehouses, built in 1901.

“This is our way of showing off our historic neighborhood and what makes it such a great place to live and to visit,” said Ramona Whitaker, chair of the event’s planning committee.

Tickets are $18 for advance purchase, $23 the day of the tour. Additional information and advance ticket purchase is at www.historiclinwood.org.

Tickets and a guidebook may be picked up on the tour day at Art Dialogue Gallery, 1 Linwood Avenue at North Street. Proceeds of the tour go toward streetscape and neighborhood beautification projects
