Everyone is familiar with the amazing artwork that Google does for the various holiday with their logo. That artwork is the brainchild of 29-year-old Google Webmaster Dennis Hwang. Today Google doodles, the drawings that are designed on, around and through the Google logo their home page are considered art. I know that I look forward to each new design. Attention Western New York Teachers!
Google has opened up a competition for all K-12 grade students to submit their own Google logo. The winning logo will be displayed on Google’s home page for a day. A panel of judges will select 40 finalist doodles, from which the public will help select a favorite to be featured on the homepage on May 22nd, 2008.
Great learning opportunity here! They have an amazing resource page full of lesson plans and ideas to make this an educational opportunity!
We loves to support the local classrooms and we give away grants to teachers in Niagara and Erie County each month. We thought that perhaps a teacher might find a great use to take advantage of this opportunity and use our funds to create a great lesson behind it! We will even feature your entire classes Google logos on our BLOG!. Hurry the deadline to register your school and classroom is fast approaching!

Teachers interested in using the DREAM Grant Money for this project, please send an email to colleen@defrancorealestate.com by March 15, 2008 with proof that your school and classroom are registered with Google for this competition. We will announce our classroom winner on March 17th on our BLOG! And we will unveil the artwork from the classroom that we sponsor on May 22nd right here!
