In today’s world the importance of recycling is becoming greater of a concern both for the general public and also to the economy. Recycling has become a major issue as scientific research has been suggesting for years that the earth is being depleted too fast to sustain a healthy balance.

A recycling drop-off day for computers, electronics, textiles and bicycles will be held from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. Saturday at Erie Community College South Campus in Orchard Park. The event is free and open to all Erie County residents. Participants must certify that their items are household-generated. No commercial-or industrial-generated electronics will be accepted.
Items accepted include computer systems (CPUs, monitors, mice, keyboards, printers and scanners), audio speakers, cell phones, fax machines, wired, copiers, video game systems, VCRs, DVD players, televisions, fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, and rechargeable batteries. Clothing and textiles will be reused at Goodwill retail locations or recycled.
All bicycles collected will be used for bike repair, maintenance and safety education or will be recycled by the Blue Bicycle and Recycle-a-Bicycle programs.
